The present pontiff is shrI Prasanna Soora mAdhava tIrtha. The junior pontiff is shrI vidyA sAgara mAdhava tIrtha. The picture belows shows the swamiji offering puja to the  Shri Veera Rama idol and other main dieties. The Shri Veera Rama idol being worshipped  was handed over by Shri Madhvacharya himself.

 

 

Shri Madhava Theertha was one of the four direct disciples of Srimad Madhvacharya who had established mathas outside the Tuluva province. The headquarters of this matha is at Tambihalli , Mulubagal, Kolar District in Karnataka. Srimad Acharya who is believed to be the third avatar of Lord Vayu established the Tatvavada philosophy . Tatvavada means the real truth. He travelled wide with his trusted disciples, among whom were veterans like akshObhya tIrtha and mAdhava tIrtha, who spread their master's message. All these divine souls are believed to be manifestations of some aspect of the Supreme. Madhava Thirtha was the third in succession to the spiritual throne of his master.He is believed to be an avatar of Garuda.

The direct disciples of Srimad Acharya and thier followers established mathas to propagate and spread this philosophy for the benefit of mankind. Madhava Thirtha's disciples formed one such institution which exists even today as Majjigehalli matha at Thambihalli near Mulubagal. Shri Madhava Thirtha, entered brindavan at Hampi and his mortal remains were later shifted to Mannur near Gulbarga. The seat of the pontificate was then moved from Mannur to Thambihalli.
